1. What do I wear to class ?
Wear something you are comfortable moving in. To give you some examples, woman often like to wear some type of active wear or casual wear that is comfortable, whilst men often like to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Remember to layer up in the winter! The footwear is more important. Please don't wear bulky work boots or gumboots etc, these pose a hazard to your partner when dancing. Lightweight trainers, street shoes, dress shoes, dance sneakers, jazz shoes or dedicated Latin dance shoes are acceptable footwear. Eventually you may want to invest in proper dance shoes to avoid possible ankle and knee injury. Multiple spins and rapid turns become much more common as you advance through the levels.
2. Must I bring a partner to class / do you rotate partners in class ?
There is no need to bring a partner with you, simply turn up!. We rotate partners in our general classes.
Please ensure you pay attention to personal hygiene to make it a pleasant experience for everyone.
3. What if I have never danced before, will it be too hard ?
Our beginners course is designed for adults who may have never danced before. Our philosophy is, if you can walk, then you can dance!

4. Is there an age requirement ?
Our general classes are primarily designed for adults, with a lower age limit of 16. We expect people to act respectfully and maturely. Younger teenagers may attend if their guardian is in class. There is no upper age limit. We do not offer kids classes but can recommend others that do.

5. Do I need to enroll ?
No, there is no need to enroll. Simply turn up and we will take your details. The 6 week block course can be joined in the first and second week.

6. How long before i can go social dancing ?
While this is often a personal preference, it's probably useful to at least complete a beginners course before going out social dancing. That way you will be acquainted with the basic moves and general dance etiquette.

7. Can I attend to watch first ?
Yes by all means, if you are a little unsure you are welcome to watch a beginners class first. However please note, recording is not allowed if you are not an active participant of the class. In any case, we really would encourage you to just jump in and try a class, so you don't have to wait for the next intake which could be up to 6 weeks away for beginner courses.

8. Can you help me with choreography ?
Absolutely, Con has extensive choreography experience in Salsa and other related dance styles.

9. What can I do about harassment or inappropriate behavior in class ?
Please speak to one of our instructors at the earliest opportunity. Disrespectful and rude behavior is not tolerated in our classes. We aim to provide an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and respected.

10. Can I role swap in class ?
We generally teach the traditional roles in our general classes, where the gentlemen learn the leaders part, and the ladies learn the followers part, as this is what the average person expects to be learning when they sign up for Latin partner dancing. Sometimes if the classes are short of male dancers we may have a few ladies or female instructors learning the leaders part. We do our best to balance the numbers in class.
